I had seen and researched a lot about Reiki and was eager to experience what I had learned for myself.

 

I believe in the body’s ability to hone in on energy present in others and have felt it myself, but never a direct exchange while in a treatment. I admit feeling apprehensive at first, but Kelly immediately made me feel more at ease; she is very welcoming. The treatment area was also calming. Essential oils or incense added a pleasant aroma that further relaxed me.  The experience itself was eye-opening. I have a few years of experience in meditation and using visualization enough to be familiar with imagery that often appears behind your eyelids while in a deep meditative state. As I lay there trying not to expect anything, I would see orbs of color that changed, fading in and out, and changing in shapes. At the same time, I could feel tightness releasing in my chest, abdomen and throat. I later learned she was going over my chakras and checking where I was “open or closed.”  It amazes me that I could sense it without knowing what she was doing. By the end of my session, I felt much more free, light and at peace.  Of course, it is difficult to maintain that kind of thing without maintenance.

 

After my first experience, I can definitely see the benefit of adding this into a self-care and wellness routine! Kelly made a believer out of me!
